What hardware do you need?

We work with Windows Mobile devices, supporting Windows Mobile 5.0, Windows Mobile 6.0 and Windows Phone 6.5 operating systems.

The device must have a touch-screen to input data.

What do they cost?

Most mobile phone providers offer suitable handsets free of charge with economical monthly tariffs.  Alternatively, the devices can be purchased outright from between £150 to over £1000 for a highly-specified, rugged and weatherproof pocket PC.

What's the battery life?

Models vary, but would typically provide 4 -16 hours' between charges.  Many users carry a compact additional pack which delivers a power reserve of 3 standard batteries.

Will I lose data if the battery runs out?

No - your data is safe even if the battery fails, as the pocket PC memory

  is "non-volatile", meaning that you don't lose information when power is lost.

How do I export data to other applications?

Data is easily exported to any ODBC compliant application; the user receives positive confirmation via the software or text when information has been successfully uploaded to (for example) a server at head office.

How secure is a data transfer?

Our systems use ultra-secure 256 bit encryption; each record is ecoded with a unique GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) code.
